Cutting and Shaping Foam
- Cut a slight taper into the end of a foam strip to make initial tie-ins much cleaner.
- Use a standard hole punch to quickly make tiny indicator dots or hot spots.
Preventing Slippage on the Hook
- Build a solid thread base on the hook shank before attaching any foam.
- Use a flat-laying thread (like UTC 140 or GSP) so you can apply firm pressure without cutting through the foam.
- Compress the foam completely between your thumb and forefinger when making your initial securing wraps.
Double up or stack for extra high buoyancy
add Polypropylene yarn wings: Use synthetic poly yarn because it floats well, sheds moisture, and is easy to track on ripply water.
