Brief Description: Daiichi 2161 Fly Hooks (6 hooks per pack)
The Daiichi 2161 is a premium fly-tying hook designed for salmon and steelhead applications, particularly effective in flies and nymphs:
- Design & Construction: These hooks feature a curved shank paired with an up-turned tapered loop eye (up-eye style), which is favored for its classic alignment and ease of dressing; They’re forged and finished in black for both strength and aesthetic quality
- Performance & Durability: Made from hardened and tempered high-carbon steel, the hooks boast a long-lasting point and robust strength . They also use a 12° constant-taper ground needle point, which ensures consistent shape, eliminates weak spots, and delivers quick, reliable penetration .
- Heritage Style: Based on the classic “Bartlett” sweep developed by renowned fly-tier Bob Johns in the 1970s, the Daiichi 2161 is the up-eye version of the popular Daiichi 2151 hook—offering traditional alignment and popularity among tiers.
- Typical Uses: Particularly well-suited for tying Traditional Spey and Dee Flies, Married and Strip-Wing Flies, Bucktail Streamers, Hairwing patterns, and curved nymphs for steelhead. The stout wire construction also performs reliably in strong currents and when targeting large, powerful fish.
- Packaging: Each pack typically contains 6 hooks and they are commonly available in sizes 1, 2, 4, and 6 (i only have size 6, more sizes on order)
